We are in front of a deep ruby red wine, accompanied by purple reflections.
The intense and intriguing nose is a thick texture of fruity notes, like cherry under spirits and dehydrated plum, gently warmed and animated by spicy perceptions of green pepper, nutmeg and cloves. Hints of skin and delicate roasting contribute to enriching the complexity of this bouquet to which the beautiful balsamic note gives momentum.
The drink is easy and elegant; this wine has a good freshness and tannins determine the need for a gastronomic combination. We paired it with a damp lamb but we could not resist to try it with seasoned caciocavallo cheese.

The qualitative growth of the wine industry is mainly attributed to the growing commitment of wine producers who became aware of the generosity of their territory. They have made important choices for the development of the grapes and indigenous cultivars.
The history of the Leo family has always been characterized by their love and passion for vines and wines, since the early ‘900. In those years, the company’s founder, the grandfather and namesake of the last heir Paolo Leo, began making wine from grapes picked in “Palmento”, the old underground tanks he used before, were now restored and used as a cellar for storing and ageing wine.
The new company headquarters, founded in 1989, occupies a total area of about 15,000 square meters. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art vinification system. It has a barrel room of 400 square meters containing 500 oak barrels with a capacity of 225 liters. However, these modern winemaking technologies were used in harmony with ancient tradition of which the Leo family has always respected.
Their mission remains unchangeable; to offer consumers wines that mirror the smell, flavors and the character of Puglia. To guarantee high-quality products and highly-rated services by customers and consumers, the company introduced a certification and traceability system. The system was a must, to document the entire winemaking process starting from picking vines till grape transformation and processing.
