A lot of important facts can be deduced just from the name of this wine. Sorì comes from the dialect of Piedmont and indicates the vineyards which receive more sunshine and are therefore subject to a better climate. Giul is a diminutive for Giulia, the female soul behind Tenuta Santa Caterina. Maybe it’s just accidental, but the wine seems sunny, the smell is warm with ripe forest fruits overtones (redcurrant, raspberry, wild strawberry), and lightly spiced shades (cinnamon and ginger). The taste is fluid, a typical characteristic of the Freisa which drive us crazy because it links elegance with drinkability, ending with a long and bitter aftertaste. We tried it with delicious Italian cold cuts and really enjoyed the mix.

TENUTA SANTA CATERINA
Tenuta Santa Caterina is a winery estate located in Grazzano Badoglio (province of Asti), in the heart of Monferrato. At the end of the 20th century, the property was completely abandoned. At the beginning of 2000 it was bought by Guido Carlo Alleva, attorney in Milan, whose family origins are rooted in these lands. The whole main house and the buildings of the estate soon underwent major conservative renovations. In line with its past and the surrounding landscape, the estate was brought back to its original condition: the historical cellar (a real masterpiece of the hypogean architecture), the italian style gardens and the stables.
