Friuli-Venezia Giulia represents an Italian pride in the production of wines with character and temperament, sharing the same deep-rooted belonging and identity as its people.
Set like a precious jewel, Borgo Conventi is a winery nestled within two historic DOCs, Collio and Isonzo, territories of absolute viticultural excellence that have always been cultivated with the utmost respect for territorial sustainability.
Luna di Ponca is the wine we tasted today: a true symbol of agronomic research and perseverance, as it represents three of the most suitable grape varieties of this region – Friulano, Chardonnay, and Malvasia – which compose Borgo Conventi’s only white “reserve” wine.
This is a project primarily aimed at understanding the terroir, at that viticultural zoning that Borgo Conventi has been able to study over many years across its 30 hectares of property. Here, enology fully merges with agronomy and with the meticulous attention in the cellar that allows for the enhancement of the just over 6,000 bottles produced in a concrete meeting between tradition and contemporaneity.
With a full and broad nose of fruit and distinct notes of aromatic herbs and white flowers, Luna di Poncaalready reveals its marked and pleasant minerality to the nose, which will then form a harmonious union with the palate.
On the palate, indeed, its structured freshness doesn’t allow you to perceive the 13.5 degrees of alcohol but, on the contrary, elevates its elegance and pleasantness.
Luna di Ponca is recommended for dishes where the structure of the raw materials can enhance its balance and smoothness – excellent with white meats and fish such as turbot or eel, but also as an end-of-dinner glass, holding the glass between your eyes and the moon to exalt its chromatic nuances.
Company profile
“Borgo Conventi” takes its name from the legend of Farra d’Isonzo: Count Strassoldo, known as “il Rizzardo”, donated to the Dominican friars the plot of land on which the first of the local monasteries was built. Today, Tenuta Borgo Conventi is based on that land and has made the production of refined wines its mission. Starting from the vineyard: 30 hectares distributed between two of the most suitable areas in the region, Isonzo and Collio.
