The Custoza wine area has always been defined as a “green oasis” on the outskirts of the city of Verona. Custoza was also a place where the epic Italian Wars of Independence took place, because, in addition to the fact that it has always been a land on the border, warring armies could be better coordinated from its hills.
Custoza is in the heart of the moraine hills, which are the result of the retreat of the glaciers and the consequent erosion of ancient mountains. Today, it offers wine tourists an overview of the Southern part of Lake Garda which is rich in woods, plateaus, lakes and springs.
This is Custoza wine’s birthplace, and it is no coincidence that for many years this white wine has been part of the Veronese culture. In fact, in Verona it is one of the most consumed and appreciated wines.
This wine encompasses a blend of “Italic” white grapes where the fragrance of Garganega stands out, assembled with Trebbiani and Cortese grapes in order to obtain a wine of truly unique freshness and aroma.
Custoza, which has a color tending towards bright yellow, is vinified in steel. Thanks to this, it has a spring energy in its aromas. It also carries the harmony of ripe fruit in its taste accompanied by a well-balanced flavor.
Cantina di Castelnuovo winery – one of the four wine cooperatives that encompass Vitevis Group – is a great representative of this territory and Custoza has always been one of its most successful wines.
The Custoza “Cà Vegar” can be the perfect aperitif to be enjoyed in a typical tavern, but it can also be one of those “all-meal” wines, pairing very well with fish carpaccio or farmyard meats.
Cantine Vitevis S.c.a. is an agricultural cooperative company with registered office in Montecchio Maggiore (VI), officially established on 1 July 2015 from the merger of three historical wineries in the Vicenza area: Cantina Colli Vicentini S.c.a. of Montecchio Maggiore (1955); Cantina di Gambellara S.c.a. of Gambellara (1947); Cantina Val Leogra S.c.a. of Malo (1961). In July 2019, Cantina di Castelnuovo del Garda S.c.a. di Castelnuovo del Garda (1958) also joined Vitevis through merger by incorporation. The merger stems from the desire to improve the respective points of excellence in the territory, enhancing the wines of the provinces of Vicenza and Verona in Italy and worldwide. Vitevis, from the Latin vite vis: the strength of the vine, of a territory and its people. Vitevis operates from the vineyards, to the cellar, to the logistics, to the commercial service activities, with the utmost attention to product quality and safety, focusing on the continuous training of personnel with respect to hygiene, safety, quality and sustainability
