57 years of Tuscan ardor aimed at an always careful research in the cellar, makes Castelli del Grevepesa truly a proud bulwark of quality and a historical source of wisdom that deserves to be told and lived.
Chianti Classico has seen commercial and notoriety eras among the most diverse and unique of our peninsula, but has never lost its indistinguishable identity, at least it has never done so for the winemakers of this prestigious structure.
Now the challenges of these years that Castelli del Grevepesa is facing, is also doing them by bringing to the market this true Tuscan emblem, clean and clear to the nose, pleasant and distinctly rustic in its quality, with the typical finish of those who dare to understand the the heart of this part of Tuscany has always been linked to its shy but immensely enveloping character. The notes on the nose, but above all the color we found in the glass, fully demonstrate the skilful use of wood and in particular they brought this straight note of Sangiovese to the nose, in this case “softened” by that small percentage of Merlot, a silent but essential helper for that extra balance that this Chianti expresses.
In the mouth its harmony, decisive and with almost confidential tones, envelops the mouth with a gentle and never aggressive body accompanied by a long finish with pleasant aftertaste of ripe red fruit.
The sense of smell has therefore brought back in the tasting and in its taste all that we perceived on the nose and this balance, which honors these producers, confirms the transversality of the use of this symbolic wine in the kitchen. A game ragout accompanied by a tagliatella, a medium-aged cheese and the excellent company that gave us this product did the rest. Tuscan sensations, modern and linked to tradition.

Company Profile

The largest Chianti Classico family, who with passion and hard work produces fine quality wines, accessible to everyone, recognised and valued throughout the world. Over 50 years later, Castelli del Grevepesa today has over 120 associated winegrowers, still including four of the original founders. Most of the Associated Vintners have their estates in the Chianti Area which widen mainly in the environs of Greve in Chianti, San Casciano Val di Pesa, Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d’Elsa. From the wide expansion of the vineyards planted and cultivated by the members themselves on the hills of the Chianti Classico region and after years of experience within these territories, small areas or even single vineyards have been identified where the grapes with superior qualitative characteristics can be cultivated.
