An unusual version of Trebbiano D’Abruzzo that winks at Burgundy. The basic condition remains unchanged: the precision of a balance that is born in the vineyard in a cross section of the territory located between land and sea. The strengths of Colle Moro have always been environmental sustainability, use of natural resources combined with modernity in the cellar in a constant use of renewable sources and virtuous cycles, a bridge between present and future.
Calèa is the wine with a direct expressive vocation, it grasps aromas and structure in the glass in a gustatory journey concentrated on a happily exuberant character. The return to Trebbiano D’Abruzzo and the search for its intrinsic quality, an ancient and productive variety, a generous vine with unmistakable flavors and memories.
Declined in roundness, fullness, harmony, it is a wine with an Italian heart, ideal for accompanying innovative or traditional dishes throughout the meal. We liked it paired with a first course of fettuccine with butter and saffron. The contrast between the dish and the wine is interesting. Its fresh vein and its aftertaste persistence perfectly marry the aromas of ripe yellow fruit and the hints of flint, fully integrated into the generous curves of a gustatory softness.
Colle Moro winery was founded in 1961 in Guastameroli di Frisa (CH), thanks to the enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit and courageous choices of a group of winemakers in the area. Today about 500 members participate in the cooperative winery, including many small farmers, whose farms are located in different municipalities around Frisa, in the South-East of Abruzzo, between the Adriatic Sea, along the Via dei Trabocchi, and the peaks of the Maiella. The total production area is about 1,200 hectares, with an average production of 180,000 quintals of grapes. The hilly terrain, the geographical exposure and the presence of a particularly favorable climate determine the typicality and enhance the qualities that make the Colle Moro wine production truly unique. We think above all of Montepulciano and Trebbiano, most representative of the territory, but also of Pecorino, Passerina and Cococciola, main autochthonous vines, and of Moscato Giallo. To these are added some international vines, such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Sangiovese. The winery has been playing an important economic and social role for the reference area for years, enhancing and supporting the work of many winemakers.
