As a leading winery of the Sicilian wine-growing area, Mandrarossa is able to offer to the various national and international markets, products with always clear and recognizable notes for their identity, both on the nose and on the palate, but in particular very well balanced and aligned to offer modern Italian cuisine around the world.
Here land and innovation are the masters, but innovation requires careful work of wine zoning that the winery has been carrying out with obsessive attention for decades.
In fact, the warm sunny note pushes to the nose a vine with the characteristic breadth that only the great Nero d’Avola can have, and naturally builds a scenario of rare complexity all around the nose of the taster. As pleasant as summer nights on the main island of this vine, for Mandrarossa, Cartagho is a flagship wine, resulting from the 15 hectares dedicated to obtaining this elegantly enveloping wine. The notes we perceived are of great harmony, as on the palate its body expertly cared for by 12 months in barrique, leaves a soft and fragrant finish, recalling the taster to the pleasant drink of this Cartagho 2019.
The true balance, however, is given by the unmistakable flavor of that land from where the bunch receives the notes of wild aromatic herbs and small red fruits, then opening up in complex but never overwhelming flavors, indeed, very intriguing for those who savor it.
Here the combinations are wasted, we suggest it with dishes that are not too elaborate to bring out the truly surprising taste typical of the fruit, tasted with a rosemary tagliata and flakes of Parmigiano Reggiano, it has really conquered everyone. Well done.
Mandrarossa is the clear and genuine expression of Sicily’s new face in wine growing. Mandrarossa brand’s character is innovative and modern. Its vineyards lie along the south west coast of Sicily, in Menfi, a unique and unspoiled territory particularly well-suited to winegrowing thanks to perfect climate conditions: intense light, mild temperatures, sea breezes. Mandrarossa vineyards grow on small hills from 5 different soils and many different exposures. This brings high quality to wines and gives life to many different and innovative varieties.
