Some grape varieties embody history, emotions, values, and strength, and we could endlessly add adjectives and feelings to describe what they have represented and continue to represent in the history of Italian winemaking, telling stories of territories and lives. Among them, without a doubt, Barbera stands out.
Colle Manora wanted to put its very own name in this Barbera d’Arti Superiore DOCG, calling it Mnaora, indeed, another confirmation of how this wine represents this amazing company of 75 hectares among woods and vineyards in Monferrato.
Colle Manora’s Barbera Superiore is wonderfully authentic, expertly crafted in the vineyard and then aged for 12 months in barrels. Manora encapsulates all the honest and genuine sensations of this grape variety. Full and expansive on the nose, it invites the attentive taster to focus more on its infinite nuances than on a single specific aroma. The bouquet reveals an abundance of flowers and fruit, surrounded by distant spices and a touch of sweet tobacco and fine dark chocolate.
On the palate, the olfactory harmony blends seamlessly with the gustatory balance in perfect synthesis, further showcasing the unique expressiveness of this wine, which we believe is a true flagship for Colle Manora. Its value can be appreciated in countless pairings, from meats to cured delicacies, not limited to the excellent local offerings, extending to cheeses reminiscent of nearby alpine pastures.
Kudos to Colle Manora for fully embodying the values that continue to amaze us in one of the noble figures of winemaking: Barbera.
Company Profile
Giorgio Schön and Marina Orlandi Contucci have transformed the historical company Colle Manora over time, establishing new vineyards and renewing the structure and technology of the cellar. Colle Manora is a blend of the characteristics that make Italy famous across the world: quality, style, and passion. The pride of this historic region, with its indigenous vines, combined with the aromatic fantasies of some foreign vines, produces wines with precise imprints: the Italian style inspired by Mila Schön, the Lady of Fashion’s creative flair; the passion for racing reds expressed in the brand: a simple stroke of a red combined with a bunch. Between the ancient villages of Quargnento and Fubine Monferrato, the property sits atop a hill at the heart of a scenic amphiteater of vineyards that is bordered to the north and east by acacia, oak, and wild cherry forests. A total of 20 of the company’s 100 hectares are planted with grapes in an excellent environment.
