We can say that 132 years of history of this brand confirm a territorial culture that few wineries in the Italian wine scene can boast.

If this history, over the years, intertwines with skills, development, vision, and foresight, the result is the current group, which preserves, safeguards, and brings to markets around the world the capability and credibility of this distinctive Italian brand.

Montresor’s offering has expanded over time from the Veronese territories of Valpolicella to the east, in the area of Soave, and westward to the Lugana zone, where the wine we tasted today comes from, made exclusively from Turbiana grapes (Trebbiano di Lugana).

This Lugana is truly intriguing, from the packaging of the iconic glazed bottle, which reveals itself in the glass with marked and brilliant golden hues. A light aging in wood also makes it more interesting both on the nose and during the tasting phase.

On the nose, the notes of fresh wildflowers are well defined, accompanied by spicy hints of Mediterranean herbs, white-fleshed fruit, and a slight citrus scent that rounds it out.

This same complexity is found in the mouth, where the finish is long and distinctive, with the typical minerality of the Lugana area that completes the harmonious balance of this Lugana, which, in our opinion, can be appreciated even after two or more years in the bottle.

We recommend pairing it with rich or elaborately cooked dishes, such as pasta with zucchini flowers, shrimp, and crispy bacon, or spicy musky octopus, or even stewed meats with green sauce or sweet mustard.

Company Profile

Historically linked with the Valpolicella area, Cantine Giacomo Montresor has been an author of this territory since 1892, with an excellent production that has been able to maintain a close connection between history, tradition and culture. Alongside the long expertise, the horizons broaden to expand the know-how. This is the company’s choice: to combine its fervent vision with that of other passionate families of winemakers of two different cooperatives, to face growth together and step into a new era that strenghtens the Montresor philosophy related to the brand history, bringing new energy and quality.
