Castello di Meleto is both history and innovation: a microcosm of values that are deeply rooted in the natural beauty of one of the most captivating areas of Chianti.
It embodies a proud Tuscan identity, carefully shaped and nurtured by the estate, and enhanced by a prestigious resort that offers an exciting welcome to wine tourists and wine enthusiasts who are eager to immerse themselves in a true ecosystem of 1.000 hectares of woods, vineyards, and olive groves.

The Chianti Classico Riserva 2021 we tasted is both emblem and signature of this place: a wine that, after two years of aging in 50-hectoliter oak casks, reveals itself in the glass with brilliant ruby hues and a well-defined red color.

Sangiovese is the star of the blend, yet an experienced taster will detect that small percentage of Merlot which completes its overall harmony.

On the nose, it offers great complexity, with both spicy notes and aromas of red forest fruits and wildflowers. On the palate, it reveals its strong and bold character, yet remains noble thanks to its overall elegance.

A Chianti Classico Riserva for true connoisseurs, appreciated for its roundness and balance, with a finish where the variety’s typical tannin stands out for its softness and lingering taste.

Perfect when paired with fine meats, game, or medium-aged cheeses but it can also be ideally enjoyed at sunset in the gardens of Castello di Meleto.

Company Profile

Castello di Meleto is a complex and highly diversified reality. It represents the largest organic company in Chianti Classico and has six sub-zones capable of expressing all the diversity of the terroirs of this territory. It is the perfect interpreter of the identity of Gaiole in Chianti, one of the highest municipalities of the Denomination, where the entire property is located, extending for over 1,000 hectares. Its dynamism, given by a young management and an international vision, make it one of the fastest growing realities in the territory. A story that began in 1256 and rewritten in 1968 thanks to the realization of a of many men dream. Belonging to the Ricasoli family for several centuries, the Castle was reborn with “Operazione Vigneti” the first far-sighted crowdfunding operation in Italy, in the world of wine. For Castello di Meleto, wine is a philosophy: “Not 130 hectares of vineyards, but 130 times a hectare”, a tailored approach aimed at interpreting Chianti Classico while respecting each micro-area. Everything starts from the vineyard, which is parcelled out and followed step by step thanks also to technology. This allows us to know each row of vineyards and to enhance the individual expressions with around 100 separate vinifications Castello di Meleto is today also a wonderful Wine Resort that lives on meticulously studied experiences to deeply live the territory. A structure to be enjoyed all year round thanks to the splendid Torre Parabuio suite, the large spaces of the frescoed rooms furnished in compliance with the long legacy and the eighteenth-century theater, the original 7 superior rooms located in the ancient watchtower, the two swimming pools that offer breathtaking views and 11 perfectly restored rural houses. It is a natural oasis and a comprehensive environmental project, which includes, among other things, the production of organic extra virgin olive oil and a Bee Park, an educational place where 2 hectares of plants and flowers host approximately 3.2 million bees, divided into 80 families.
