The Dolomite area surrounding the Mezzacorona winery is not only undeniably charming, but also a remarkable example of centuries-old viticultural tradition. This has allowed the Rotari brand and the Trento DOC to achieve internationally acclaimed still and sparkling wines.
This habitat, one of the most important for cultivating not only excellent native grape varieties, is also a territory where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay acquire their key characteristics to produce outstanding traditional method sparkling wines, such as the Alpe Regis Rosé we tasted today.
Made primarily from Pinot Noir, Alpe Regis Rosé also includes a percentage of Chardonnay, which completes its harmonious identity. It boasts a creamy and very fine perlage, developed through four years of aging on the lees.
With a pastel pink hue reminiscent of onion skin, the nose reveals immediate notes of homemade bread and fine pastry, hints of green apple and wild herbs, and delicate aromas of red fruits, red currant above all, which return on the palate in a perfectly balanced acidity.
On the palate, the wine reveals a pronounced minerality typical of great sparkling wines, enveloping the mouth with harmony and a well-defined structure, finishing with a soft and lingering close.
Alpe Regis Rosé is a sparkling wine that truly embodies the culture of viticultural zoning in this part of Trentino, a wine that reflects years of agronomic research and, in this 2019 vintage, fully showcases the outstanding winemaking expertise of the Rotari brand.
We prefer it at the table, even though it makes an excellent aperitif, because it has the ability to enhance fine cuisine.
